The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Canada, Amal bint Yahya Al-Muallami, recently delivered a lecture titled “Our identity our soft power” at the University of Ottawa. The presentation emphasized the critical role of Saudi identity in shaping the Kingdom’s public diplomacy strategies.

Ambassador Al-Muallami highlighted how the Kingdom's national identity serves as the foundation for projecting a balanced global image, blending its rich cultural heritage with cutting-edge advancements driving its modern progress.

She elaborated on the strategic use of Saudi cultural identity to enhance global understanding, build alliances, and showcase the nation’s diversity and achievements. “One of the most remarkable examples of soft power is the large number of Saudi students excelling at leading Canadian universities under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program.” She emphasized how these students not only contribute academically and in research but also foster cultural dialogue, enriching their host communities with Saudi perspectives.

The ambassador stressed that these initiatives align with Saudi Arabia’s vision to strengthen its global standing through soft power rooted in values and culture. Such efforts aim to foster positive international relations and establish stronger connections with countries worldwide.
